Missions
American Baptist Missions
As American Baptists, we serve as the hands and feet of Christ. We’re doing what we can to heal a hurting world. This means feeding the hungry; empowering pastors, lay leaders & youth to spread Christ’s love; protecting the environment; promoting Christian unity and more.
United Mission
United Mission is the vehicle that makes this happen. United Mission is the simple, efficient way American Baptists pool financial resources to maximize the amount of good we can do. These funds are used to connect resources with needs, resulting in meaningful change – and it’s all for God’s greater glory!
International Ministries
International Ministries works cross-culturally to invite people to become disciples of Jesus Christ and to proclaim, through both word and deed, God's reign of justice, peace and abundant life for all creation.
Annual Mission Offerings
One Great Hour of Sharing
During the month of June, 2020, we will receive offerings for One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS). OGHS supports disaster relief, development projects, and refugee ministries of the American Baptist Churches and its partners. This year all offerings will focus on COVID-19 relief in two parts:
American Baptist Home Missions for unemployment, hunger, access to healthcare, etc. for faith leaders, congregations and communities.
International Ministries for emergency grants given globally where needed, to help in the same way.
Please mark your checks clearly using OGHS so your offerings will go for COVID-19 relief. You can be a Blessing!

World Mission Offering
The World Mission Offering brings congregations together each September and October, with the for a time of awareness, advocacy and action for global mission. Churches across the country celebrate and support the ministries that God is using to transform the world.
The 2019 World Mission Offering, highlighted the Ministry Priorities of Evangelism and Discipleship, Immigrants and Refugees, and Education. While these represent only a fraction of IM’s ministries, they provide a window into what God is doing worldwide through our 123 global servants, 900+ volunteers, 43 home staff and 250+ global partners.
America for Christ
America for Christ supports American Baptist mission and ministry across the United States and Puerto Rico. Your generous AFC gifts support our mission—connecting our partners to cultivate leaders and equip disciples who bring healing and transformation to these communities. Your contributions share God’s love by:
Cultivating Leaders — Strong leaders advance the mission of faith communities.
Equipping Disciples — Broadening the understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
Healing Communities — We believe the power of Christian love can—and will—change the world.
Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering
The Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering (RMMO) has its roots in the mid-1930s, when American Baptist congregations received a Communion Fellowship Offering on the first Sunday of each month to support retired ministers, missionaries, their widowed spouses and elderly clergy within their churches. The long-standing tradition of the RMMO established in 1977 supports ministers, missionaries and their widowed spouses who have devoted 15 years or more to ABCUSA.
The theme of Honoring the Service of God’s Servants uplifts the generosity, grace and tireless work of retired ministers, missionaries and their widowed spouses and families who have dedicated their lives to serving the body of Christ.
